Manifesto

Honestly, when you look at your junior, you can see yourself, and you know it. The way you dress your kids reflects your adult life style, taste and fashion sense.

So, keep in mind, the choices you make in your boy’s clothes now will directly influence and affect his fashion sense. As psychologists claim, the seeds of self-image are planted within the first five years of the development, kids dressed in irresistibly cute clothes have NO choice but to grow into confident stylish knockouts.
Here is BoysBeCool Manifesto

Down with this annoying outdated notion that boys’ fashion ends in the sloppy and baggy land of oversized boring t-shirts with “incredibly creative” football, baseball bat or train appliques and “equally stylish” flannel sweatpants. Who spread this idea that being stylish would hurt boys’ budding masculinity? Who decided certain colors were not boys appropriate? Parents of all boys unite! Let us arm our boys with irresistible charm of stylish hunks who conquer hearts, command undivided attention, and get anything their hearts desire. Empower your boys and they would never be busy trying to fit in.

They would be busy with other cool things while others would follow their trends and spend hours trying to emulate their effortless style. Problems with the school? Forget it! Teachers adore them since they first set their little foot into the daycare. Problems with the girls? Huh, maybe too many girls problem? The only challenge is to strike this fine balance between healthy self-esteem and annoying narcissism. So, watch out stylish Mom/Pop. It’s all in your hands.

Rule #1

Reasonable/Recession Friendly/ Thrifty Prices. You do not have to be a celebrity with a gazillion dollars bank account to raise a stylish hunk. You just have to know where and what to buy and how to combine those finds. That is why I am here, that is why you are here. That is why we are all here. I will share this information with you, survey my favorite retailers and create a pool of useful tips, links to my secret recourses, recession friendly deals & steals, news about exciting sales, offers etc. I impose strict price limits on the duds, kicks and everything else I recommend here. You won’t find $45 t-shirt or $90 jeans here. The age of insane indulgency is over. Having stated the main postulate of my Shopping for Boys Philosophy I would like to welcome with the open arms ALL Sisters and Brothers in Style NO matter what their shopping styles and preferences are.

Quit the Matching Game. Loosen up! It’s the little boys we are talking about. Mix the colors, mix the patterns. Experiment! Play different sets of stripes, like fine vertical stripes on the pants against broad bright stripes on the scarf and even the t-shirt. Do not go overboard though, there is a fine line between daring and cool and plain clownish.
Break the Rules. Create the occasions; do not follow them! What about your little boy’s adorable, moans inducing suit you bought for your brother in low’s wedding and have been marinating in the closet forever, waiting for the next big occasion. Pair this vest with skinny jeans and fitted turtleneck or throw this stripy jacket on a cool t-shirt. Break the stale “Light top, dark bottom” rule. Pink is fine. Only real men can wear pink, remember?
The God is in Details. There is completely contradictory opinion expressed in German proverb, insisting, “Devil is in the details”, which only proves the immense importance of the details or the dual nature of good and evil.
Anyhow, the bold contrast stitching or leather applique, or ornamental exuberant embroidery, or gleaming studs will add the zing to the entire outfit, especially when you are trying to work all dark or all light color scheme.
Pop of Color is a miraculous final touch. You’ve got to have this bold, bright color, which ties the entire outfit together instantly “coolifying” it. You also need these outrageous, exuberant touches for those “blah” days, when the stylist’s block strikes or when you feel like...”Please, leave me alone, seriously, all of you, please leave me ALONE!”. Well, we all have these days, so there you go, Stock up on color pops, which are usually very cool shoes in insane colors or insane arrays of colors, hats and scarves.
Accessorize! Cool hats, belts, necklaces (yes, necklaces!), scarves, backpacks are integral elements of a cool boy style.
Have Fun, all of you (you might have 3 sons, right?). If you feel like your brain turns into a mashed potato, let it go. If your boy does not feel like squeezing into this stunning outfit you have concocted, do not force him. Offer him a choice (carefully orchestrated by you, naturally) or let him drive all together. Do not let the horror show on your face when presented with the results. Gently suggest some MINOR corrections and praise his fabulous choices, or wonderful sense of color, or bold combination. Do not use word “but”. It’s annoying! Keep your stress, screams, irritation, fierce competitiveness, obsessive perfectionism, theatrical hair pulling and arms breaking for your own dressing sessions if you don’t want an avert reaction to your efforts and Kevin Federline as the end result.
